UCID & Campus Directory Information

University Computing ID (UCID)

NJIT is working toward a "single login" computing environment. The UCID serves as your credentials for many computing services on and off-campus; it is the key to your NJIT Campus Directory entry; it is a login account for many systems; and will authenticate you for the new campus portal to be made available this semester. Wherever possible, your UCID will serve as the username for these systems. The UCID will be used as your account name on almost all systems, but some passwords are still maintained separately. These differences are summarized in the Account Summary Table shown below.

All members of the NJIT community should create a UCID. Rutgers, UMDNJ, and ECC students who are enrolled in NJIT courses are eligible for a UCID as well.

To verify that you have a UCID, do a Directory Lookup for yourself by clicking on the "Find Someone" link from the menu. Enter your last name in the search field. If you are listed in the directory, you have a UCID. To find your UCID, click on your entry in the "Name" column. Your UCID will appear in the field "UCID:" If you are not in the directory, you need to create a UCID and your directory entry. Instructions for doing so are available in the "First Time Users (Read Me)" on the main UCID/Campus Directory web-site.

When you create a UCID, you will also be given a default NJIT email account. This email account is your Mailhost account. It is the primary student and alumni email system. Faculty and Staff will also receive a Mailhost account. Your email address will be in the form: yourUCID@njit.edu.
